ENWILL OF GOD. Scripture references. There is no definite reference to creation as such: "God said, Let there be light"; "God created"—these are the forms in which His will is revealed in creation. The will of God in providence: Dan. 4:35. And He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth. Rom. 9:19. For who hath resisted His will? Rom. 15:32. That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God. James 4:15. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 1 Pet. 3:17. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 1 Pet. 4:19. Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. Lam. 3:33. For He doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. 1 Cor. 12:11. Dividing to every man severally as He will. The will of God in man's redemption—in the sacrifice of Christ: Gal. 1:4. In perfecting and assurance: Col. 4:12. That ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. In resurrection to eternal life: John 6:39. And this is the Father's will which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. All is summed up in salvation: 1 Tim. 2:4. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. John 6:40. And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life. Eph. 1:9-11. Having made known unto us the mystery of His will . . . that in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ; in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. The will of God for man's redemption is withheld only by man's refusing and rejecting that will: John 5:40. And ye will not come to Me, that ye might have life. Matt. 23:37. How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! The will of God touching Christian living: 1 Thes. 5:14-18. Warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good . . . Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Pet. 2:15. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. 1 Pet. 4:2. That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
