Whence It Springs; Hated by God

ENPRIDE. Proud; loftiness; haughtiness; arrogancy. Whence it springs. Not from the Father: 1 John 2:16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. But out of the heart: Mark 7:21, 22. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts . . . pride, foolishness. Ps. 10:4. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. Jer. 48:29. We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. Obad. 3. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock. Hated by God and by all that fear Him: Prov. 8:13. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Prov. 16:5. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

BSBProverbs 16:5 Everyone who is proud in heart is detestable to the LORD; be assured that he will not go unpunished.

语法参:倒装(宾语/状语前置引起的主谓倒装) → 001 pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate:宾语整串前置+do 强调倒装(这些都为我所恨恶)——箴 8:13 的重锤式句法。
语法参:呼格 O + 称呼语 → 003 thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock:呼格+that 关系式+-est 词尾(住在山穴中的啊)。

ENPresent returns of pride: Prov. 11:2. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Prov. 13:10. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Prov. 16:18. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Prov. 18:12. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility. Prov. 29:23. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit. Hardening of heart: Dan. 5:20. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. Ps. 119:21. Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from Thy commandments. How God deals with the proud: James 4:6; 1 Pet. 5:5. God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Isa. 2:11, 12, 17. The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty. Isa. 10:33. And the haughty shall be humbled. Therefore: Jer. 13:15-17. Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken. Give glory to the Lord your God, before He cause darkness . . . But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride.

BSBProverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

语法参:倒装(宾语/状语前置引起的主谓倒装) → 001 When pride cometh, then cometh shame / Only by pride cometh contention / with the lowly is wisdom:连续三处主谓倒装——箴言体常以倒装制造对偶节奏。
语法参:the + 形容词表一类人 → 001 the proud … the humble … the haughty:the + 形容词表一类人(骄傲的人/谦卑的人/高傲的人)。
