Text

ENDEACON. Acts 6:1-6. Seven deacons, set apart by prayer and the laying on of hands; some of their duties. 1 Tim. 3:8-13. Their character and qualifications. (Deacons in like manner must be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. … For they that have served well as deacons gain to themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.)

BSB1 Timothy 3:8, 9 8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued or given to much wine or greedy for money. 9 They must hold to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.

语法deacon 源自希腊文 diakonos『仆役,服事者』;not double-tongued / not greedy of filthy lucre:否定形容词排比——double-tongued『一口两舌』、filthy lucre『不义之财』(lucre:钱财,贬义,GRE 词)。
